New Year New Service

January 1st, 2022 by

The weather does not get really cold around Pelham or Birmingham, but that does not mean you should not take care of your car during the winter. The beginning of the year is a good time to get your car checked out to make sure everything is in good working order. Bring your Kia to Riverchase Kia to get it checked out to get your year started off right.  Getting this done at the start of the year could help you get started on a regular maintenance program to keep your Kia in top shape for the entire year.

Some good reasons to keep your Kia serviced include:

  • Increasing the car’s resale value
  • Extending the life of the car
  • Best performance
  • Optimum safety and improved reliability
  • Helps the car perform more efficiently and economically

Bring your car to our express service center and get a complimentary multi-point inspection to make sure everything is in good working order. People often do this before going on a long trip, but it is also a good way to start out the year to keep your car running well. Multi-point inspections include:

  • Checking brake pads
  • Tire pressure and wear patterns
  • cooling systems, belts, and hoses
  • fluid levels
  • steering and suspension
  • Exhaust system and undercarriage
  • Battery
  • Windows

When you bring your car in you can also talk with our technicians about any concerns you may have, and we can check those out as well. Our express service department gets the job done in 60 minutes or less. In addition to an inspection, this can also include oil changes, tire rotations, and battery testing.

Sooner than later

Preventative maintenance will keep a lot of problems from developing. For instance, replacing your brake pads when they get to a certain level of wear will keep you from having to replace the rotors, which are even more expensive than brake pads. Worn brake pads can cause an accident, but more likely they will cause other problems for your car when not taken care of. A lot of expensive repairs could be avoided if proper maintenance were done on a vehicle. In addition to preventive on-schedule maintenance, keep a close eye on your car’s condition and how things are operating. Address problems when they first come up instead of waiting until something breaks and you are left stranded out on the road. A properly maintained vehicle should not have very many breakdowns on the road, but you have to pay attention to what is going on with your car to notice issues as they arise.

Practice self-maintenance

We are always here and happy to service your Kia at Riverchase Kia. Even so, there are things you should be able to do yourself to keep your car in good shape. We are here when things get out of hand, but we also encourage people to learn as much as they can about their cars. We can help with any questions you may have, and your owners’ manual has a lot of information about taking care of your vehicle. Some things you should learn to do for yourself that can help you in an emergency include:

  • Learning to change a tire
  • Learning to charge a battery
  • Changing wiper blades
  • Check your fluid levels
  • Check your tire pressure and wear
  • Drive alert and safely.

It is a good idea to check your car about once a month to make sure everything is in good shape. Some things to check monthly include:

  • Fluid levels, especially oil
  • Wiper blades
  • Lights
  • Tire pressure
  • Look for leaks

Consider a new car

With proper maintenance, your Kia should last a very long time, but at some point, you will need a new car, and we hope you will consider Riverchase Kia when that time comes.  Winter, or the beginning of the year, is a good time to take a look at what we have to offer with new cars.  It is a good time to take a test drive and see what all there is in the latest version of the Kia automobile.  If you currently have a Kia that we are servicing, we will have all your service records, and that can help when it comes time to value your trade for a new car.
