2019 Kia Sedona vs 2018 Kia Sedona
What better way to know how the 2019 Kia Sedona has improved than to compare it to its predecessor? As you might imagine, there have been a few changes in the 2019 Sedona that makes it stand out from the 2018 version. So, we are going to be pitting the newest Sedona up against last year’s version in order to find out just what sets the 2019 Sedona apart.
As you may know, there are many different trim levels for the 2019 Sedona; L, LX, EX, EX Premium, SX, and SXL. However, we have decided to take the specs and features available in all of the trims of the 2019 Sedona, which you cannot get in any of the trims in the 2018 version.
We will be taking a look at a variety of things; the sound system, transmission, engine, and driver-assist technologies offered in the 2019 Kia Sedona. Now, let’s get started!

Advantages of the 2019 Kia Sedona
As you can see in the table above, both the 2018 and 2019 Kia Sedona vehicles have their strengths, and neither one is by any means ‘worse’ than the other. However, there are a few things that give the newest model an advantage over its predecessor.
The Sedona Infinity® sound system that was in the 2018 Sedona is no longer going to be present in the updated version. Instead, we are going to be seeing the Harman Kardon® sound system, so anyone who is an audio enthusiast is sure to be relieved at this new and improved system!
While the engine on both Sedona’s is the same, and therefore the 276 horsepower and 248 lb.-ft. of torque remains unchanged, there are a few differences that are added into the 2019 Sedona. One of which is the 8-speed automatic transmission; a couple steps up from the 6-speed automatic in the 2018 Sedona.
Lastly we have the Driver Attention Warning system. It is new to the Sedona for 2019, so you won’t be able to find it on any of the older models. The DAW system monitors the driver, and alerts them when it detects that their attention is no longer on the road. It does this by giving the driver an audible warning as well as a visual one. This indicates that the driver may want to take a break, or have someone else take over, to ensure they are alert and aware when they are on the road.
