2017 Kia Forte vs. 2017 Ford Focus

2017 Kia Forte vs. 2017 Ford Focus

Kia's compact Forte is back for the 2017 model year, this time without the two-door Koup. The sophisticated sedan receives a variety of updates, including some exterior design changes, a new S sedan trim and much more. The 2017 Forte also gets new taillights, a fresh new engine, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the base-level EX model and new premium features.

At the heart of the 2017 Forte is a 147-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder for the LX and S sedans, while EX models and above have a 164-hp version under the hood. For even more power, there is the SX Forte5 with a 201-hp, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder. In fact, it's the 2017 Kia Forte's well-rounded character, generous array of high-tech features and spacious interior that makes it a great choice for car shoppers.

When compared to the 2017 Ford Focus, the Forte shines thanks to its large interior, strong safety ratings and great city fuel economy. Where the 2017 Focus stands out is its two turbocharged engine options, strong handling and electric model option. It's the Focus' sporty handling that makes it a great choice for car shoppers who are looking for something different in their everyday drive. However, standing side-by-side with the 2017 Kia Forte, the 2017 Ford Focus pales in comparison.

It can't match the Kia Forte's expansive interior or large rear seat, which are some of the Focus' sore points. Nor can the Ford Focus compete with the Kia Forte's strong safety ratings. Inside the cabin, the Forte also boasts a wide selection of standard features. Even the entry-level LX is packed with technologies, including Bluetooth, satellite radio, full power accessories and much more. A Popular package for the LX is also available and adds cruise control, an upgraded interior upholstery and trim, a rearview camera, 4.3-inch touchscreen and an upgraded six-speaker sound system.
